Mission
The mission of AtCor Medical is to develop products for clinical use that non-invasively assess the physiological status and function of the cardiovascular system in humans.
Our American subsidiary, AtCor Medical Inc (USA), has its US headquarters in Chicago, IL. AtCor Medical also has a European representative office, and also markets its products through a network of international distributors in most major countries of the world.
Further to this, new pro-active, long established and well connected companies with experience in medical device sales to the Cardiology, Nephrology & Diabetes clinical and research sectors are always being sought to ensure sales coverage of AtCor Medical’s products in all regions of the world.
AtCor Medical’s SphygmoCor system, which non-invasively measures Central Blood Pressure (blood pressure at the heart), has the opportunity to transform the clinical assessment and management of patients with cardiovascular disease.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the developed world. In the US alone, 70 million people have some form of CVD causing approximately one million deaths per year.
Central Blood Pressure data has significant benefits for clinical practice and patient outcomes. Results from two major clinical outcome trials have shown that measuring Central Blood Pressure at the heart is the key to understanding cardiovascular risk, and a better indicator of cardiovascular outcomes.
‘The Conduit Artery Functional Evaluation (CAFÉ) study demonstrates for the first time in a large clinical outcomes trial, that blood pressure lowering drugs have profoundly different effects on Central Blood Pressures and haemodynamics, despite a similar impact on brachial blood pressure (cuff BP’s). AtCor Medical’s SphygmoCor system is the only device to achieve FDA approval for the measurement of Central Blood Pressure.
Extensively published in international peer reviewed papers (and incorporated in ASCOT, CAFÉ, CRIC, TOPCAT, PROFESS, CORD and many other trials), the SphygmoCor system is used in 10 of the 14 US News & World Report “Best Hospitals” Honor Roll.
