Market trends
The main headquarters of the Biotechnology Centre of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMBiotech) has been built in a 23-ha campus.
HCMBiotech is set up based on a new pattern for Vietnam with various functions including research, technology transfer, training and production applied in agricultural, medical and environmental issues.
New genetic technologies are applied to industrial production, especially the vaccine industry and biomedicine (the recombinant protein with pharmaceutical activities).
The centre construction started its first stage at the end of 2005 and should finish within three years, while the second stage is to be completed by 2010.
Simultaneously, advanced productive recombinant protein factories and a filling and packaging plant will also be constructed.
Opportunities for Australian exporters exist in the following areas:
- Bioskills and training in Good Clinical Practice, Good Laboratory Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice and postgraduate specialist sectors such as molecular biology
- Vaccine and drug design and development collaboration
- Diagnostic development collaboration
- Laboratory and research facilities engineering, design and construction
