CTEC is the most established medical and surgical skills training centre in Australia and has trained over 20,000 health professionals since opening in 2000.
CTEC’s expert technical team works closely with the course convenor and coordinator to provide comprehensive technical assistance. This includes product and equipment sourcing, practical assistance for the duration of the course and post-course disinfection and equipment return.
As our client, we support you at all stages of the course process with:
- a custom-built workshop equipped with theatre tables for procedural skills training
- access to a wide variety of inanimate simulators including; synthetic models, computer based manikins, isolated organs and cadaveric models

CTEC provides opportunities for partners to tailor education and training for your client base. We have dedicated staff available to assist with developing courses, communicating with your target audience, and managing events.
CTEC has experience of working with partners from the medical device industry, pharmaceutical industry, the healthcare sector, peak health professional colleges and associations, and university academics.
CTEC has successfully managed a range of events including product training for surgeons using new medical devices, familiarising operating room nurses with specialised instrumentation, resuscitation skills training for medical students, and cores skills training for surgery trainees.
CTEC provides consultancy and training support for simulation centres throughout the Asia Pacific region. Advice is available on: design and configuration for new centres; how to establish an operational infrastructure; and how to develop medical simulation and procedural skills training programmes. CTEC also provides advanced training for simulation instructors.

Consultancy & Advanced Simulation Instructor Courses
CTEC is recognised as leader in its field and provides consulting services to emerging simulation centres worldwide. CTEC’s Advanced Simulation Instructor course prepares you to coordinate training in emergency and crisis management skills and covers debriefing, scenario writing, moulage and the technicalities of high fidelity simulation.

Crisis management training
CTEC provides multi-disciplinary training in crisis management techniques, advanced life support, effective management of anaesthetic crises and more. Health professionals choose CTEC because they want to:

The Clinical Training and Education Centre (CTEC):
- is the longest running multi-disciplinary medical simulation centre in the Southern Hemispherehas trained over 20,000 health professionals
- is endorsed by the World Gastroenterology Organisation as one of three advanced training centres in the world
- was the first centre to introduce the use of fresh frozen cadavers in medical simulation for the purpose of providing the most realistic model on which to learn and practice core surgical techniques for trainees
- runs courses accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Royal College of Nursing Australia, the Resuscitation Council (UK), the Australian Resuscitation Council and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists
- runs 150 courses per year for the WA Health Department, and,
- is based at The University of Western Australia, an easy 10-minute drive from the centre of Perth and just half an hour away from Perth’s international and domestic airports.
Key achievements include the fact that CTEC:
- was the first to introduce Advanced Life Support Courses to Australia
- was the first centre to trial keyhole surgical techniques to treat patients with aortic aneurysms
- held the Southern Hemisphere’s largest medical simulation workshops for minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery and computer navigation for hip and knee replacements
- was the state training centre for the World Rally Championship round, Telstra Rally Australia, when in Perth, Western Australia
- was chosen by De Puy as the Asia Pacific Regional Training Centre for leading-edge technology for knee joint replacement surgery, and,
- introduced Australia’s first medical simulation courses using models to teach cutting edge techniques used in the treatment of chronic lung disease and respiratory diseases.
