Technology/Products and Services Description

SHIP and SHIPweb are interoperable within the same data warehouse and single license. Both products can run on Local and Wide Area Networks and can assist with the day-to-day running of clinics.  SHIP has the ability to interact with additional applications including pathology and medical information systems, appointment scheduling modules, and secure SMS technology allowing for cheaper and more effective patient recall.  Some functions of SHIP include:

  • Registration including demographic information, barcode/other labels, letters clinical records (client services/past history/ lab results/ diagnosis/ treatment/contact tracing);
  • Recall (lists and letters);
  • Data collection and reports for needle exchange, health promotion, information services (phone calls), staff education activities;
  • Directory (of contact address details);
  • HIV register for management, surveillance and reporting of HIV infection to meet national, state and local requirements;
  • Pap register for management of pap smear/colposcopy client services, results and recall;
  • Maintenance of patient confidentiality using secured codes for access to identifying information;
  • Cost tracking of medications, individual patient clinical summary and data collection for clinical trials to facilitate follow up and referral;

  • Interface for downloading pathology results from laboratories.

Competitive Advantages

SHIP and SHIPweb is the only fully integrated health informatics program servicing the HIV and communicable disease market that gives users the ability to add functionality specific to their needs.  This flexibility and the system's portability has resulted in the expansion of SHIP to meet the needs of different countries and different clinic settings, while maintaining a uniform method of data collection.  Implementation of SHIP into a clinic or health department can save valuable resources and time thus helping to keep the costs of health care reasonable.
