HPI employs 40 specialised staff including architects, nurse planners and health service planners. In addition to briefing and designing hospitals, HPI has a long track record of creating design guidelines for healthfacilities on behalf of health authorities and governments.
HPI has been responsible for all the 'standard design components' incorporated into the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines, used in Australia and New Zealand.
HPI is the developer of the widely used Health Facility Briefing System (HFBS), a web-based application for the rapid and detailed briefing of hospital projects as well as post-completion facility management and asset tracking.
HPI is interested in developing opportunities for the preparation of feasibility studies, briefing, design and procurement of hospital projects in overseas markets. In addition, HPI believes that the design guidelines it has created over the last decade have world-wide application, especially in countries that lack such guidelines.
HPI intends to market its HFBS, which is built upon robust health design guidelines, though a subscription system with further opportunities for training and licensing. Potential customers are health authorities, private health consortia, general practice architects and equipment suppliers. HPI hopes to achieve some of the overseas marketing aims through joint venture arrangements or licensing agreements with overseas companies.
