Overview

Protech is a biotechnology company incorporated in 1999 to develop technology primarily for the food and food ingredient industries. Protech has also designed a medical delivery device which is currently under development with partners.

Protech has developed five joint venture agreements with customers and technical partners. Protech technology is however, available only by direct contact with Protech, and not via affiliates.  We welcome approaches by interested potential partners and customers.

Technology/Products and Services Description

Protech has several commercial technologies available:

  • Protection of ingredients during manufacture – Protech has developed the ability to protect various ingredients and products during food processing, manufacture, distribution, and also human ingestion. This is achieved by use of one of five separate encapsulation technologies. Selection of the appropriate technology is based on the specific application. Protech has enhanced liposomal nano technology by creating a highly specific cell recognition capability and secondly reducing the cost of liposome technology to a fraction of previous approaches (those used in Pharma today). This technology is patented.
  • Enzyme Extraction – The technology provides the ability to extract enzymes from grains and concentrate them for use in food manufacture. This is performed cost effectively and importantly, preserves everything necessary to enable the food labels to include the ‘natural' claim, and of course, has no genetic modification. Enzymes produced in this way have to date exhibited a higher activity than similar enzymes produced by GM bacterial or fungi.
  • Flavour Enhancement – We have developed natural flavour enhancers with the potential to revolutionise the flavour industry. Our flavour enhancers can be delivered by viable yeast and can be used in a similar way to existing products.  However, our enhancers are produced for a fraction of the current manufacturing costs, and do not have the off flavours or ‘wellness’ issues that many other flavour enhancers possess.
  • Salt control – Protech has developed and patented the ability to reduce total salt on most dry foods by 30% without reducing the ‘saltiness’ experience during consumption.
  • Drug Delivery – Protech has designed and is developing with selected partners, a drug delivery device. It will be medically implanted for treatment of diseases that are site specific and will reduce total drug dosages and minimise side affects.
