Seagull Technology   Overview Seagull Technology Pty Ltd has exclusive rights to intellectual property that enables drug delivery across biological membranes such as in the front of the eye, mucous membranes and the skin-utilising electro-stimulated polymers to control drug release and sonification to increase tissue permeability. The first product to market will be the SonoEye device designed to deliver drugs to the back of the eye to treat diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD) and diabetic retinopathy. AMD is a medical condition predominantly found in elderly adults in which the centre of the inner lining of the eye, known as the macula area of the retina, suffers thinning, atrophy, and in some cases bleeding. This can result in loss of vision. The current treatment for AMD requires frequent injection directly into the eye of Lucentis (Novartis) or steroids to control the disease with the risk of retinal detachment or infection.
